A brilliant darkness
Treasures popping slowly the more darkness that came
As they showed themselves my heart leapt
It was like a game of peek-a-boo
And then my body remembered, they were always there.
The cicada, toads, frogs, insects were singing
It was a bit of a hum that my body knew
As I lay on the ground, my body remembered
Settled
Moved with the hum of their sounds
And then my heart remembered they were always there.
The leaves were clapping
The branches were swaying
I could hear their rhythm
Again, settling, moving with what is true
My smallness in all of this
Darkness is a beautiful gift.
They were always there.
